Last week I was MIA from the blogosphere. I went home to visit my family in Birmingham, Alabama. It was wonderful seeing my mom and her side of the family. I hate to admit it, but it had been way too long since I’ve seen them (1 year to be exact–screams of horror inserted right here + guilt). I’m hoping to visit them more this year. My family lives in Homewood, Alabama. This happens to be one of my favorite cities and neighborhoods of Birmingham. Mountain Brook is my other favorite.
For those of you who do not know much about Homewood, Alabama. It is a land-locked city, with neighborhoods that have unique and quaint homes. It is a somewhat quirky neighborhood that is primarily family friendly. Many of the people of Homewood range from young families to old. Throughout the day you will see many of its patrons running or walking through the neighborhood. There is great shopping and dining in walking distance as well. I tell my husband every time we come visit, that this is the neighborhood I would want to live.
Also, because this city is land-locked, remodeling or building new is extremely popular. Many of these homes are old and small, which has most homeowners building up. However, there are still some of the original homes still around. There is a beautiful blend of architectural styles in Homewood, Alabama. The styles range from cottage to English Tudor to Craftsman influence. I’m hoping to get my feet in the door and do some design work here in my hometown.
Until then, I want to share with you a few of the homes in Homewood, Alabama.
