Football season is almost here! I mean it is literally 2 weeks away! My husband is absolutely ecstatic, and I’m pretty thrilled myself. I grew up an avid football fan, Alabama, but I went to Georgia (where I met my husband). Therefore I am an Alabama and Georgia football fan. Note, this drives the hubs crazy!! Anyways, since we are gearing up for football season, I thought I’d start a series called ‘Tailgate Tuesday’, which will either be a great tailgate food recipe or football fashion. Yes, you have to have both, good food and be well dressed to attend or watch a game (it’s the Southern sorority/fraternity way–look good while cheering for your team).

To start the series, I’m going to share with you a simple and easy recipe that you can make ahead: Sausage Balls.
Sausage balls are my go-to finger food for any casual party or gathering. They are absolutely perfect for tailgating! The great thing about this recipe is that it’s quick to mix, and as I said above, you can make ahead. These are a ‘make ahead’ dish, by literally mixing the ingredients, rolling into balls and freezing. Bake right before you serve or head out for tailgating. Another fabulous thing about sausage balls, is that they can literally sit out for hours and you will not get sick. And we all know, that some games tailgate time can be 6+ hours. Trust me, if you haven’t had these, you will love them and so will your friends!
Sausage Balls:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 box of 20 oz. Bisquick
- 2-1 lb. packages of sausage, 1 hot & 1 mild (or two mild if you a little spice isn’t your thing)
- 1-8 oz. package of shredded sharp cheese
Directions:
- In a large bowl mix all ingredients.
- Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until tops gold brown, approximately 15 minutes.
- Serve warm.
