Two days ago I posted on my side entry coming to fruition. I must say that these cabinets get used every single day. Even though we do not have children, Chris and I each have an individual ‘locker’ and so does our sweet dog, Sadie Mae. These side entry cabinets are the perfect drop zone for us.

While we do not have a no-shoe policy, I like being able to take my tennis shoes off and throwing them in the drawer for no one to see. My tennis shoes never see my actual closet. Remember I used a caned insert in the drawer front so the shoe drawers allow air flow. My husband’s bar shoes go in his drawer as well, and trust me, they don’t need to come into my house any farther than the side entry. And that was the main reason for selecting a drawer front allowing air flow. His bar shoes stink sometimes! (Sorry hon)

In our side entry cabinets, each individual locker has two hooks for jackets, scarves, etc, or for Sadie Mae’s leash. Obviously in the winter there are more coats and sweaters hanging here. Each hook is a double hook. The ones I selected are vertical double hooks. Also, if you feel that you need more hanging, you could place a hook on the side stiles of the locker. Just make sure they do not overlap into the main center space.
At the desk area, I designed some specialty storage. The top drawer is a charging drawer. We all have small devices that need charging, and we do not want to see the cords. The perfect solution, is the charging station drawer. And yes, those are extra batteries (I have about 6 others not seen). These are my life when I travel for work.

The side panel between the desk and locker area has hidden storage. I used a push/pull cabinet hardware, so no-one can see that it is an actual cabinet door. As a designer, I end up hoarding a good amount of magazines. And this area is where we house several of my magazines. Can you tell the hubs and I have a favorite? Garden and Gun is the best!! If you haven’t heard of it or subscribed, do it! You will thank me later. #yourewelcome
