My First Design Video: Delicious by Design

Two years ago I was awarded the opportunity to do a design video, my first ever!!  I was a nervous wreck. While I posted this on my old personal blog, I thought I’d share with you that original post, but slightly updated.  Below is the design video that I made with chef Mike Davis, owner and chef of Terra restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina.

While in this photo, you might think I look like a natural, but that is so not true….YET!  I’m slowly becoming more and more comfortable in front of the camera.  Mike was such an anchor for me on this shoot.  He has been in front of the camera before and was coaching me the whole way through.  Without Mike, I probably would have panicked slightly.

My show name: Delicious by Design

My show concept: A designer and a chef discussing the importance of kitchen design and how to better design a kitchen.  And to eventually showcase products, etc.  But the twist and kicker is that not only am I talking with a chef and getting two perspectives on kitchen design, but also you get a recipe at the end!  I incorporated the two things I absolutely love: kitchens and cooking/baking!

My first episode is called “Mise en Place” (everything in its place).  In the video I’m with restaurant chef and owner Mike Davis, of Terra, in Columbia, South Carolina.  For those of you who don’t know, this is my favorite restaurant in Columbia!!  I’m not kidding.  The food is incredible and Mike is such a talented chef.  He’s creative (which I love) with his dishes and plating those dishes—bringing a culinary design to the table.
